Gear and Gear Train Design
Whether you need full development assistance from the ground up, troubleshooting noise or durability issues, or just need help completing your design with DFM (Design for Manufacturability), Enplas is there. We can design, evaluate, or modify all your plastic gear components. We design gears and gear trains that are scientifically evaluated for their performance, based on our material and gear performance database and various measurement technology. We can conduct linear and non-linear stress analysis as well as mold flow analysis. Our design engineers are at your disposal to help you make your plastic gear concepts become reality.

Material Selection
Enplas works closely with customers and material suppliers to select materials that meet our customers’ specialized needs. Enplas experiments and collects its own data on material and gear performance. Our world-class supplier network includes recognized leaders such as DuPont, Ticona, and others. This robust network and our gear-catered material database allow us to select and develop materials that are proven to reduce wear and noise for plastic gear applications.
Engineering Plastics
We can mass produce injection-molded parts with a wide variety of engineering-grade plastics, filled or un-filled. The plastics with which Enplas has achieved world-class quality include:
Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) | Polyoxymethylene, a.k.a. acetal (POM)—both copolymer and homopolymer | Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS) | Nylon | Polycarbonate (PC) | Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) | Polyether Imide (PEI) | Polymethyl Methacrylate (PMMA)

Prototyping
Trust Enplas’ rapid prototyping services to accelerate your product’s design and evaluation process. Quick Mold Service (QMS), a subsidiary of Enplas, delivers molded prototype parts in as little as one week. In fact, 95% of all parts take no more than four weeks to deliver. QMS ensures simultaneous evaluation for fit, form, function, and assembly—benefits that are not possible with conventional machining and prototyping methods. This capability saves our customers money and cuts development time by up to 50%. QMS prototypes also offer the flexibility to accept material changes and design modifications.
If your challenge is high-quality precision plastic parts in a hurry, QMS should be your first choice.

Tooling
Enplas and our customers agree that to make the best parts you must use the best materials and employ the latest technologies. Our molds are designed and built at our facilities both here and abroad. We construct our molds from only the highest-grade tool steels, including D2 (Quench and Temper Steel) and P21 group (Pre-Hardened Steel) sourced from suppliers such as Uddeholm and Daido Steel.
All our tools are built to the ISO 9001 quality standard. Gear tools can meet AGMA 10+ standards, and are capable of maintaining a Ppk (Process Performance Index) of 3.0 and a Cpk (Process Capability Index) of 1.5 throughout the tool life. All tools undergo a rigorous inspection and qualification process before being released to production. A focus on critical-to-function and critical-to-assembly dimensions is kept throughout the entire tool design and development phase.
Our machines are capable of producing nano-meter precision surfaces on our inserts. Most of the molds operate in the range of ±0.05mm (±.002 in.) precision, with some precision levels of ±0.01mm (±.0004 in.).

Manufacturing
Enplas operates at the forefront of injection molding technologies and systems. We utilize all-electric injection molding machines ranging in size from 25 to 180 metric tonnes. Every one of our 44 molding machines’ operating parameters is set for control within 1% of nominal values to ensure repeatability and consistent quality throughout a production run.
We employ the latest production control system to monitor real-time performance of all machines. This system is remotely accessible, giving Enplas the ability to respond to production changes at a moment’s notice. Our molding operations and total facility adhere to IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 standards.
In order to maximize the product’s value, Enplas utilizes robotic automation on its machines. All automation systems and processes used at our facility are internally designed and developed.
